Peer Helpers is a program that uses the natural assets of students to assist other students in the school. Peer helpers participate in a two day training focusing on their listening and group skills. If you would like to be a Peer Helper please get a recommendation from your counselor.
Peer Helpers are involved in the following activities:
Teens Against Tobacco Use - (T.A.T.U.) Students are trained to present anti-tobacco use to middle school students.
Children Learning Other Ways Naturally - (C.L.O.W.N.) - Peer Helpers present alcohol/drug information to 2nd graders dressed as clowns.
Drug Abuse Resistance Education - (D.A.R.E.) Peer Helpers
assist the D.A.R.E. program in Districts 161 and 153 as role
models.
Peer Communications - (High School) Students working in
groups with students who have disabilities.
Students For a Drug Free Tomorrow - (High School) Students who are involved in activities and presenting information to the school about drunk driving and the consequences of tobacco, alcohol and drug use.
Welcome to Success (8th graders) Students introducing HF to incoming freshman at the middle schools.
