The Center for the Historical Study of Women and Gender at the State University of New York in Binghamton designed this site as a way to present more than 600 documents, 150 images, and 250 links to other web sites all concentrating on women's impact on the social history of the United States. The projects cover the time period between 1775 and 1940 and highlight subjects like peace, politics, reproductive rights, and gender rights.

The Seneca Falls Convention - 1848

The Smithsonian Institute offers this information about the Seneca Falls Convention, which took place on July 19th and 20th in 1848. Southern Christian Leadership Conference: Our History

Created after the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference is an organization that has and is working hard to ensure basic human rights for the African American community. Ralph Abernathy was one of the initial creators of this organization, and after the death of Martin Luther King, he even took over as president. On their web site you will find a timeline that depicts the major victories and programs that were established during his time as president for the organization.

Ida Wells-Barnett

Ida B. Wells-Barnett was fearless and respected as an uncompromising fighter for the rights of all human beings. Born of slaves, she was freed shortly after birth. Having to work at a young age due to the death of her parents, Ms. Barnett fought tirelessly to end the oppression that people of color felt during this time.
