Summary: This chorus is open to any male in high school who wishes to sing the traditional male chorus literature. All freshmen males who enroll in vocal music are placed in this chorus. Performances are given at least three times a year in association with other choral groups. Performances, while outside of class hours, are considered a part of course requirements and attendance is expected. Educational emphasis is on vocal development, musicianship, musicality and self-direction. The Viking Male Chorus performs literature of all musical styles, periods, and levels of difficulty, in unison two, three, and four parts. The music for all occasions is performed from memory. Ensembles, solos, and other
special opportunities may be given to specially talented members of the chorus.

Evaluate music and music performance 6. Understand relationships between music, the other arts and disciplines outside of the arts 7. Understand music in relation to history and culture 8. Model excellence and discipline throught the process of performing music in large ensembles
IV Textbooks and Materials There is no textbook for this class. Classroom materials will be provided by the school district. Materials will/may include choral music (called octavos), handouts, rehearsal CD's and exam materials.
